Hi! I'm a software engineer who sometimes fantasizes about becoming a biologist :)
I come from a non-biology background. As a student, I focused on systems engineering, distributed systems, and cryptography. At CSAIL, my research was on secure and authenticated communication; at the Media Lab, I worked on network security and electronic voting; and at Draper, I did my thesis project on fault-tolerant systems.
I've spent my professional career at various tech companies big and small. And I just started a new job at a maker of liquid-handling robots (!) so I'm really excited to learn about the biology side :)
